Volkswagen Polo 2009

I don’t really like the polo, I’ll definitely go for golf over it anytime.  I thought the polo was a really waste of effort, until i saw this.

Purely design observations, to just see how subtle the design is, really provokes a minimalist such as myself.

While I always thought the golf was a tad bit irregular looking from the side, this car almost perfectly brings in such balance and proportions. From the size of the headlights, the glazing, the understating-curves and lines throughout its body, the car slowly grows on you as you gaze upon it. It looks clean, not exaggerating, it shows a clear intention of the designer, every detailed line and angles drawn on his sketch pad and  into production, the passion for the design, it’s a piece of art, it looks tamed, it looks, professional.

However targeted to compete with the ford fiesta, the design will soon fade away into the “i just want a car to transport me” and old grannies. They just can’t be bothered slowing down and admire this piece of design.
If you find this car really very normal, yeah you’re right, in the eyes of the people that is.
Art is not always all about indifferent out of normal, it’s finding  indifferent in the normal.
My target for the next 5 years? Maybe. This would be the most realistic goal of a dream car. (cheaper than a normal golf).

It is due to come to Australia in 2010.
